Education has always been recognized in the United States as a way to improve your standing in society. It is widely held that by working hard and getting good grades in school, it is possible to make a good living at a career of your choice. For adolescents, this is even more important because they are at the crux in their life of making the decision of how they want to be spending the rest of their life; what career do I want and how do I become an active citizen? One way to improve student achievement is through Hippotherapy. Hippotherapy addresses the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of the participant. When a student is physically healthy, they will be more likely to achieve in school because they feel well. By improving cognition and allowing a student to feel more confident in succeeding in the classroom, the student should be more likely to have increased achievement. With emotional stability and self-efficacy, classroom achievement should improve because the student can concentrate on the tasks and have less anxiety.
